Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have actually been seized by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A guy was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines via the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its office, Peter Moore, said: "It is important that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be hazardous.

"These types of items being sold, generally online, have undergone no quality control and there can be no assurance about their safety.

"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not know the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
